Welcome
A SHORT HISTORY of L.O.L No'5

The original warrent was issued at the formation of the Grand Lodge of British America in the year of 1830. Although there are records of meetings prior to this date. The Peel Archives holds a print of the first Orange Parade from Grahamsville (Peel County) to York in 1812. Loyal Orange Lodge # 5 amalgamated with Loyal Orange Lodge # 10 Brampton, to form Loyal Orange Lodge # 3174. The present warrent was re-issued to Loyal Orange Lodge # 5 in 1945.

After going through a lean time in the 1970's and the 1980's the lodge now has a membership of more than 60, and has produced numerous Peel County Masters and Officers.

If you would like more information regarding the history of the Loyal Orange Association in the Peel County area, i highly recommend reading this book: From the Boyne to Brampton.

This is one of the few books that can be read online at the Peel online digital archives

Re: Christmas Dinner 2008

I would like to push for a more family inclusive night next year. My hold back is getting a sitter for Nathan. Since Karen's mum had her brain tumour I don't feel right asking her as he can be a handful at times, and my parents live in Cambridge thus making it a very long drive just to have a child ...

Re: Christmas Dinner 2008

It was mentioned last meeting that many times this forum has turned into just a three-way between us because of the lack of people getting involved as well. Was hoping to somewhat shame them into getting involved...hasn't worked yet :(

Re: Halloween Dance 2008

He's going out as Dr. Who on Hallowe'en so it could be entertaining. I could always show up in an old wrestling outfit...granted 2.5 stone oversized

Re: Halloween Dance 2008

I can't. Karen is gone to Montreal for work and its just me and Nathan. Unfortunately they won't allow a 9 year old to come and I can't get a baby-sitter.

Agreed. The opening of the lodge with the degrees is a nice touch. Honestly, even though it takes some time, I think we should keep it permanent.

Some brethren were worried that if we changed at the last minute visiting brethren or those brothers who aren't always in the loop will be unaware and show up on the 17th regardless

Its sad really. We had mentioned it in two seperate lodge meetings yet the posts tend to be mainly yourself with Robert and I lagging in behind. The dance was good and the food was splendid.
